Using Visitor Snapshot on Ring Intercom
Visitor Snapshot helps you see who was at your building entrance, even if you miss a call, by capturing a still image of a visitor when they press the intercom call button.
Supported devices and requirements
If you don't see Visitor Snapshot, verify you meet the below requirements:
- The building's intercom system has a camera.
- You have an active Ring subscription.
When a snapshot of a visitor is captured
A visitor snapshot is captured immediately when the visitor presses the call button on the intercom.
- The snapshot is a static image.
- The snapshot does not include audio or video playback.
Where to find visitor snapshots
You can view visitor snapshots for up to 180 days in the Event History in the Ring app.
- Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
- Tap the intercom's tile under Devices.
- Tap Event History.
- Tap an intercom call event.
The visitor snapshot will display if it's the only available content.
Viewing snapshots and recordings
If an intercom event includes both a visitor snapshot and a recording, a menu will appear when you tap on the event.
You can choose to:
- View Visitor Snapshot.
- Play Recording.
This allows you to quickly see who pressed the button and then review what happened during the call.
How Visitor Snapshot and recording work
Visitor Snapshot is captured at the moment the call button is pressed.
Recording starts later, only when:
- The call is answered, or
- The call is missed and the visitor leaves a voicemail message.
Additional privacy features
Visitor Snapshot offers more ways to take control of your privacy features in the Ring App.
- Privacy Settings: Toggle the Visitor Snapshot feature off in the Privacy Settings to stop capturing visitor images. This will not affect your call recording settings.
- Privacy Zones: Privacy Zones can be used to block areas that you do not want to capture whilst Visitor Snapshot is enabled in your video feed..
