What to do if your Ring and Alexa features stop working
If you’ve already enabled the Ring Skill in your Alexa app, but it has stopped working, you may be having a connectivity issue. If auto live view or Live View is not connecting, follow the steps below to resolve the problem.
This procedure will disable and then re-enable the Ring Skill but your Ring devices will remain installed on your Ring app.
Note: Make sure you update the Alexa app to the latest version.
If you don’t know how to update the Alexa app, click on one of the links below to get updates for your device.
Step 1 - Disable the Ring Alexa Skill from Alexa app:
- Open the Alexa app on your mobile device.
- Tap theMoremenu button at the bottom right corner.
- SelectSkills & Gamesfrom the menu.
- TapYour Skillsand locate the Ring Skill.
- Tap theRing Skill.
- TapDisable Skillto remove the Ring Skill.
- TapDisableand the Ring Skill will be removed.
- Tap onDevicesat the bottom corner.
- Forget all the Ring Devices by using theTrash Canicon.
Note: Disabling the Ring Skill in Alexa will not uninstall your Ring devices from the Ring app or change any of your Ring device settings.
Step 2 - Re-enable the Ring Skill from the Alexa app:
- Open the Alexa app on your mobile device.
- Tap theMoremenu button at the bottom right corner.
- SelectSkills & Gamesfrom the menu.
- On the next screen, search for Ring in the search box.
- After you've found theRing Skill, tap the Enable button.
- Alexa will ask you to sign in to your Ring account.
- Make sure you have your password handy.
- Once you enter your Ring account information your Ring Skill will be linked to Alexa again and you’ll be asked to discover devices.
- TapDiscover Devices.
- All of your Ring devices should appear and be connected to Alexa automatically.
- If you don't want Alexa to integrate with a particular Ring device, simply select the device and tapForgeton the right side.
