Manage access to your Ring account and devices

Learn how to remove Shared Users, unlink your Ring and Amazon accounts, remove Ring Skills, change your Ring and Amazon passwords, and sign out of Ring on all connected smart devices.

Removing Shared Users

Remove Ring Shared User access from both the Ring app and any Alexa devices linked to the Shared User's Ring account. In the Ring app:

  1. Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.

  2. Tap your device's Settings.

  3. Tap
    Shared Access
    .
  4. If you have multiple locations, select a location by tapping
    Manage
    to the right.
  5. Tap the Shared User you want to remove.
    • To remove the Shared User completely, tap the trash can icon in the upper right, or
      Remove User
      at the bottom.
    • To remove Shared Access to individual Ring devices, tap the toggle next to the Ring device to turn off access.
  6. Tap
    Save
    .

Unlinking your Ring and Amazon accounts

Unlinking your Ring and Amazon accounts means you won’t get Ring notifications on your Alexa devices. Learn more about Ring and Amazon account linking. In the Ring app:

  1. Tap the menu (☰).

  2. Tap
    Control Centre
    .
  3. Tap
    Amazon Account Linking
    .
  4. Under Other Alexa Services, tap
    Unlink
    .
  5. Enter the Ring account password.
  6. Tap
    Unlink Accounts
    .

Note: These steps only apply to linked Amazon accounts listed under More.

Removing Ring Skills

Note: This will remove the access of all enabled Alexa accounts and devices to your Ring devices, so you won't receive notifications on your Alexa devices and you won't be able to use commands to interact with your Ring devices. In the Ring app:

  1. Tap the menu (☰).

  2. Tap
    Control Centre.
  3. Tap
    Linked Accounts.
  4. Tap the trash can
    icon to the right of Alexa.

Sign out of Ring on connected phones, tablets and computers

There may be times when you want to sign out of the Ring app or Ring.com on all connected phones and tablets, without the need to change your password. For example:

  • You lost a phone or tablet
  • You think someone may have unauthorised access to your account
  • You recently shared access with others and want to reset all connections

In the Ring app:

  1. Tap the menu (☰).

  2. Tap
    Control Centre
    .
  3. Tap
    Authorised Client Devices
    .
  4. Tap
    Remove All Devices
    .
  5. To sign out of the mobile device you are using, tap the checkmark box next to
    Remove and log out of current device
    .
  6. Tap
    Remove Devices
    .

Note: If you sign out of the mobile device you are using, you will need to sign back in to your Ring app and account. Signing out of Ring on all connected devices won't unlink your Alexa devices.

Changing your Ring password

In the Ring app:

  1. Tap the menu (☰).

  2. Tap
    Account Settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Password
    .
  4. In the password section, tap on
    Update
    .
  5. Enter the new password in the
    New Password
    field.
  6. Re-enter the new password in the
    Retype Password
    field.
  7. Tap
    Change Password.
    • This will sign you out and take you to the home page of the Ring app.
    • You will receive an email to confirm that your password has been changed.

Note: This will sign you out of the Ring app and Ring.com on all Ring devices, except Alexa. Changing your Ring password won't unlink your Alexa devices. After changing your Ring password, you'll need to sign back in to your Ring app and account on all your phones, tablets, and computers using your new password.

Signing out of all Alexa devices

If you’re concerned that your Amazon password may be compromised, sign out of all your Alexa devices. In the Amazon app:

  1. Tap the person icon at the bottom.
  2. Tap
    Account
    .
  3. Tap
    Login & security
    under Account Settings.
  4. Tap
    Start
    next to Compromised account?.
  5. Enter the code sent to the email address associated with the Amazon account.
  6. Tap
    Submit code
    .
  7. Tap
    Sign out everything
    .
  8. Tap
    Done
    .

Creating a new Ring account

If you’re still concerned your Ring account may be compromised, you can create a new Ring account.

  1. Make sure you download any videos you want to keep.
  2. Delete all Ring devices on your current Ring account.
  3. Create a new Ring account with a different email address.
  4. Verify the email address and enable Two-Step Verification.
  5. Set up your Ring devices on the new account.

To relink your Ring and Amazon accounts once you’ve created a new account, you will need to:

  • Create a new Amazon account using the same email address you used to set up your Ring account, or use your existing Amazon account.
  • Relink your Ring and Amazon accounts and re-enable the Alexa Skill.
  • Contact Amazon Support to transfer your Prime membership and digital purchases.
