Can I use the Solar Charger with my original Ring Doorbell?

No. The Ring Solar Charger is specifically configured to work with the original Ring Video Doorbell 2.

Can I use the Solar Charger inside?

While there is nothing stopping you from setting up Solar Charger indoors, indoor light sources may not provide enough energy to charge your Ring Video Doorbell 2.

Can I use my own micro-USB cable?

No. The included power cable is not a micro-USB and cannot be swapped out for another.

Is Ring Solar Charger weather resistant?

Yes. The Solar Charger should give you reliable service through most weather conditions.

I live in an area that gets mostly cloudy, rainy days. Will Ring Solar Charger work for me?

Yes. Ring Solar Charger will work fine even on cloudy days.

Installation

How do I mount Ring Solar Charger?

You can mount Ring Solar Charger directly into wood using the provided screws and screwdriver.

Note: Before installing your Solar Charger, check the back of your device for a serial number. The serial number is divided into four sections:

• "bhrg4"
• four digits
• "lh"
• six digits

Therefore an entire serial number would look like this: bhrg42217lh000260.

If the four digits after bhrg4 fall in the range of 1715 to 2417, you may find that your Ring Video Doorbell 2 is incompatible with the Solar Charger. Call Community Support for a free replacement unit.

After I mount the Ring Video Doorbell in the Solar Charger, do I need to activate it in the Ring app?

No. The Solar Charger is just a power source. As soon as you plug it into the Ring Video Doorbell it starts working.

Once the Solar Charger starts working, does that show up in the Ring App?

No. The Device Health page for your Ring Video Doorbell will continue to show that the power source is a battery.

Is it normal for the blue light to go on and off? Does this mean it's charging?

No. If your Ring Video Doorbell does this, it means that it still updating and installing the firmware update. Give it a few minutes to complete. 

Do I have to drill new holes in the wall to install the Solar Charger?

No. The Solar Charger can be mounted using the same holes as the original bracket.

Yes, a 1-year parts and labour and lifetime theft protection.
