How to Fully Reset Your Ring Security Camera

If you need to factory reset your Ring Security Camera either because you want to give it away or as part of troubleshooting, follow the steps below. 

If you're giving your device to someone else, make sure to also remove your device from the Ring app after performing the reset (scroll to the bottom of this page to see how).

Factory resetting your Security Camera will erase all of its saved settings, such as your wifi password. After performing a factory reset, you will need to set up your camera again from scratch.

How to reset your Security Camera depends on which model you have. You can find out what model you have in the Ring app.

Ring Stick Up Cam Battery (2nd Generation)

  1. Undo the battery cover
  2. Find the orange setup button near the battery slot
  3. Press and hold the setup button for 10 seconds
  4. The light on the front of the camera will flash for several minutes; when the light turns off the reset is complete

Ring Stick Up Cam Battery (3rd Generation), Ring Stick Up Cam Plug-In, Ring Stick Up Cam Pro

  1. Undo the battery cover
  2. Find the orange setup button near the battery slot
  3. Press and hold the setup button for 10 seconds
  4. Once the reset is complete the camera will enter setup mode

Ring Spotlight Cam Battery

  1. Find the setup button on the top of the camera
  2. Press and hold the setup button for 10 seconds
  3. The light on the front of the camera will flash for several minutes; when the light turns off the reset is complete

Ring Indoor Cam (1st and 2nd Gen), Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam, Ring Spotlight Cam Wired, Ring Spotlight Cam Pro, Ring Spotlight Cam Plus, Ring Stick Up Cam Elite, Ring Floodlight Cam, Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus and Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro

  1. Find the setup button on the top of the camera, or under the cover at the back for Ring Stick Up Cam Elite
  2. Press and hold the setup button for 10 seconds
  3. Once the reset is complete the camera will enter setup mode

Removing your Security Camera from your Ring Account and app

Remember, after resetting your device, you will still need to remove it in the Ring app if you are giving it to someone else.

  1. From the app home screen, tap the menu in the top left.
  2. Tap
    Devices
    .
  3. Tap the device you'd like to remove.
  4. Tap
    Device Settings.
  5. Tap
    General Settings.
  6. Tap
    Remove this Device
    and follow the steps on screen.

Important: The device's new owner will not be able to set it up if you do not complete this step.
