X Line Lifetime Basic Plan and Warranty Information

As of 11/5/24, Ring has ended production of X Line products. Existing X Line customers will keep their Ring Lifetime Basic Plan (formerly Ring Protect Lifetime Basic Plan), and X Line devices will continue to be covered under the three-year warranty.

What is the Ring Lifetime Basic Plan?

The Ring Lifetime Basic Plan provides video event saving and sharing for any Ring doorbell or security camera sold in an X Line package. The Ring Lifetime Basic Plan is specific to your individual device and only covers its useful lifetime. If you replace your device under a warranty claim, your plan will transfer over to the replacement device for its useful lifetime. There is no monthly or annual recurring subscription payment.

Does the Ring Lifetime Basic Plan cover every Ring device at my home?

No. The Ring Lifetime Basic Plan that is purchased with an X Line bundle specifically applies only to the device included with the bundle. 

Can I purchase a Ring Lifetime Basic Plan for my other Ring devices?

No. The Ring Lifetime Basic Plan is only available for with the purchase of an X Line bundles. To get coverage for your other devices, subscribe to a Ring Home Plan. Learn more.

If I move and take my X Line bundle with me, will my Ring Lifetime Basic Plan follow me?

Yes. The Ring Lifetime Basic Plan is specifically attached to the applicable device in your X Line bundle and will automatically transfer to the new location as soon as you set up your device.

Is there a difference between the three-year limited warranty offered with an X Line bundle and Ring’s standard one-year limited warranty?

No. The terms and conditions of both warranties are the same. The main difference is the duration of the limited warranty period. 

If I have to replace my X Line bundle’s device under the three-year warranty, does the Ring Lifetime Basic Plan transfer to the new device? Will I be able to retain my video event recordings?

Yes. Should you need a replacement device while under your three-year warranty, simply contact Ring Customer Support and arrange for a replacement. You will need to keep your original device on your account until you’ve received and set up the replacement device. At that time, the Ring Lifetime Basic Plan will transfer to the new device and your videos will be retained in your Ring account.

What happens if I sell my X Line bundle’s device? Does the Ring Lifetime Basic Plan go with it?

Yes. The Ring Lifetime Basic Plan is attached to a device, not your Ring account. When the transfer of the device takes place, the previous X Line Lifetime Basic Plan will be canceled and a new one will be issued to the purchasing party.

What happens to my video recordings if I cancel my Ring Lifetime Basic Plan?

When you cancel a Ring Home subscription, all of your recorded videos will be permanently deleted. To save any videos, you must download them before canceling your plan. Use this link for step-by-step instructions on downloading videos. You'll also lose all other plan benefits. Please contact Ring Customer Support to cancel. There is no refund available from Ring for canceling your Ring Lifetime Basic Plan.

If I cancel my Ring Lifetime Basic Plan on my device, can I reinstate it later? 

To renew your Ring Lifetime Basic Plan, you will have to set up the X Line bundle again under the same account.

How do I return an X Line bundle?

If you are owner of the device, you will have to work directly with your professional installer.
