Solar accessory troubleshooting

If your solar accessory is not charging the device as expected or shows “Not Connected” in the Ring app, check the following:

Make sure the connection is secure: Unplug the Solar Charger from the device. Inspect the cable and port to confirm they are clean and have no damage.

Change the position of your solar accessory: Solar devices need at least three to four hours of direct sunlight per day. For the best results, place your solar accessory in an open area without overhangs, awnings, or objects causing shadows.

Check the battery level: Your solar accessory will not begin charging your Ring device until its battery percentage drops below 90%. The solar device will only show as connected when it has stored power.

Pay attention to the weather: If it is cloudy or overcast several days in a row, your solar device might not receive enough sunlight to charge. The battery in Ring devices is designed to charge in temperatures 32ºF - 113ºF (or 0ºC - 45ºC).

Check the Power Settings for your Ring device: Excessive motion events, Snapshot Capture, Motion Frequency, Advanced Motion Detection, or Video Recording Length can cause your battery to drain more quickly, even if its connected to a solar device with enough direct sunlight.
