Charging the Battery on Your Ring Video Doorbell 2

You only need one battery for your Ring Video Doorbell 2 to work properly. However, if you want extended battery life or don't want to experience any downtime while charging the battery, a second battery is available for purchase.

Use a common micro-USB cable, such as the orange one included in your Ring box. Simply plug it into any USB power source. Your Ring Video Doorbell 2 battery can take around 5-10 hours to fully charge depending on whether the USB cable is plugged into a USB port or a wall outlet.

How to charge your Ring Video Doorbell 2 battery

1. Remove the

   security screw

   on the base of the doorbell and lift the faceplate up and away from the wall.
2. Remove the battery by pressing the

   release tab

   .
3. Connect any

   micro-USB charger

   to the charging port in the battery. Both lights will illuminate when the battery is charging. When only the green light remains on, your battery is fully charged.
4. Slide the fully charged battery back into the doorbell. There will be a click when the battery is secure.
5. After about

   30 seconds

   (during which your doorbell will start up again), return the faceplate to the doorbell and secure it with the security screw. 

If my Ring Video Doorbell 2 is hardwired, does it still need a battery?

Yes, your device will get a trickle charge from the wiring, but it still requires a battery.

My battery is hardwired to my existing doorbell or connected to a solar charger. But according to the Ring app, my charge keeps falling to 90%. Why is this happening?
