Download the manual for Doorbell Retrofit KitFollow these step-by-step instructions to install your Doorbell Retrofit Kit for Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) and Wired Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen). This accessory allows you to mount your new Ring doorbell using the holes you created for your original Ring doorbell.

Drill with 6 mm (1/4 in) masonry bit (optional)

Existing Ring doorbell installation
1. If installing a doorbell with wiring, shut off power at the breaker.
NOTE: If you are unsure which breaker to flip, turn off the master breaker or contact an electrician.

CAUTION!
You’ll be working with electrical wires during the install process. If you encounter damaged or unsafe wiring, or if you are unsure, uncomfortable, or inexperienced, please consult with a licensed electrician.
2. Remove your existing Ring doorbell, if necessary.

3. Use the guide to remove the correct rubber plugs and mark the right screw holes for your doorbell.

A — Battery Doorbell / Video Doorbell (2nd Gen)
B — Battery Doorbell Plus /Battery Doorbell Pro / Doorbell 3, 3 Plus, 4
C — Japan Intercom Box
D — European Round Junction box
E — Wired Doorbell Pro / Wired Doorbell Plus
F — Rectangular Junction Box (US/CA/MX)
G — Video Doorbell Wired
4. If you’ve accidentally poked incorrect holes, seal them with the included rubber plugs.

5. (Optional) Prime or paint your kit to match your home before installation.

6. Attach the retrofit kit over the doorbell wiring with the included screws, running the wiring through the opening.
NOTE: If the retrofit kit starts to flex, the screws are too tight.

7. Clip on the retrofit cover to attach.

8. (Optional) If using a wedge or corner mount, install the mount over the retrofit kit.


9. Attach the doorbell bracket over the mount or retrofit kit.

10. Refer to your doorbell setup guide to complete setup.
US or Japan junction box installation
1. Shut off power at the breaker.
NOTE: If you are unsure which breaker to flip, turn off the master breaker or contact an electrician.

CAUTION!
You’ll be working with electrical wires during the install process. If you are uncomfortable or inexperienced, consult with a licensed electrician.
2. Remove your existing doorbell or intercom, if necessary.

3. Use the guide to identify holes C or F and remove the correct plugs.

4. (Optional) Prime or paint your kit to match your home before installation.

5. Attach the retrofit kit over the doorbell wiring with the included screws, running the wiring through the opening.
NOTE: If the retrofit kit starts to flex, the screws are too tight.

6. Clip on the retrofit cover to attach.

7. (Optional) If using a wedge or corner mount, install the mount over the retrofit kit.


8. Attach the doorbell bracket over the mount or retrofit kit.

9. Refer to your doorbell setup guide to complete setup.
European round junction box installation
1. Shut off power at the breaker.
NOTE: If you are unsure which breaker to flip, turn off the master breaker or contact an electrician.

CAUTION!
You’ll be working with electrical wires during the install process. If you are uncomfortable or inexperienced, consult with a licensed electrician.
2. Remove your existing doorbell or intercom, if necessary.
NOTE: Keep the screws safe for now.

3. Use the guide to identify holes D and remove the correct plugs.

4. (Optional) Prime or paint your kit to match your home before installation.

5. Install the foam seal and retrofit kit over the doorbell wiring with the included screws, running the wiring through the opening.
NOTE: If the retrofit kit starts to flex, the screws are too tight.

6. Clip on the retrofit cover to attach.

7. (Optional) If using a wedge or corner mount, install the mount over the retrofit kit.


8. Attach the doorbell bracket over the mount or retrofit kit.

9. Refer to your doorbell setup guide to complete setup.
