What is Alexa Emergency Assist?

Alexa Emergency Assist, available in the United States only, is a new Alexa service that gives you 24/7 hands-free access to Urgent Response via Amazon’s Echo-enabled devices to support you or anyone in your home during a medical or safety emergency, and request dispatch of first responders, if needed.

Once subscribed to Alexa Emergency Assist, you can say “Alexa, call for help” and you’ll be connected with a professionally trained agent to assist you and request to dispatch first responders, if necessary. This is especially important when you can’t get to the phone in case of a fall or other unexpected situation.

Note: Unlike Alexa Guard (no longer offered), Ring products do not integrate with Alexa Emergency Assist. However, you can enable the Ring Skill on your Alexa-enabled device to control your Video Doorbells, Security Cameras, Ring Smart Lightning and Ring Alarm, use Astro with Home and Away modes, and create Alexa Routines for your Ring devices.

Ring Alarm and all Ring Alarm accessories require a subscription for digital notifications, in-app features, digital arming/disarming, and integration with other Ring, Echo, and third-party products. Subscription sold separately.

Alexa Emergency Assist key features

• 24/7 Hands-free Urgent Response:

  Just ask Alexa for help, even when you can’t get to your phone. Professionally trained agents can assist with medical and safety concerns via your Echo-enabled device, and request to dispatch first responders if necessary.
• Smoke and CO alarm alerts:

  Your Echo-enabled device will proactively listen for signals from smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms. If your Echo device detects a signal, Alexa will notify you and offer to contact Urgent Response.
• Emergency contact with notifications:

  Select up to 25 contacts who will receive SMS and push notifications when Alexa makes a call to the emergency helpline, and when the call ends.

How to subscribe to Alexa Emergency Assist

If you are subscribed to Ring Protect Pro or Ring Protect Plus (1st Gen) and linked your Ring account to your Amazon account prior to September 20, 2023, you will be auto-enrolled into Alexa Emergency Assist until October 31, 2024, at no cost.

You will not be auto-enrolled into a paid subscription after October 31, 2024. If you want to continue using Alexa Emergency Assist, you will need to subscribe.
