Recharging Solar Batteries for Ring Smart Lighting Devices

Keep walkways and outdoor spaces illuminated by learning how to manually charge Ring Smart Lighting solar batteries and ensure your whole-home security systems stays safe and secure.

Unlike Ring Smart Lighting devices with replaceable batteries, solar devices can be charged when exposed to direct sunlight or when manually plugged into an outlet using the included micro USB cable.

Before recharging the battery in your solar-powered Ring Smart Lighting device, be sure to:

Solar Pathlight Battery

What you’ll need before recharging the Solar Pathlight Battery:

  • Solar Pathlight.
  • One (1) 18560 lithium-ion rechargeable battery (included in Solar Pathlight packaging).
  • Micro USB cable (included in Solar Pathlight packaging).
  • USB power/wall adapter (not included).

To recharge your Solar Pathlight Battery:

  1. Twist the Solar Pathlight top cap counterclockwise and remove from base.
    • If this is your first time charging your Solar Pathlight, remove the battery pull tab to activate.
  2. Connect the micro USB cable to the USB power/wall adapter.
  3. Insert the micro USB cable into the Solar Pathlight cap.
  4. Plug the USB power/wall adapter into the outlet to begin charging.
    • The light will slowly turn on and off while charging.
    • When the Solar Pathlight is fully charged, the light will glow continuously and will be ready for use.
  5. After the Solar Pathlight it fully charged, unplug it from the micro USB cable.
  6. Reattach the Solar Pathlight to its base, twisting clockwise.

Solar Steplight Battery

What you’ll need before recharging the Solar Steplight Battery:

  • Solar Steplight.
  • One (1) 18560 lithium-ion rechargeable battery (included in Solar Steplight packaging).
  • Micro USB cable (included in Solar Steplight packaging).
  • USB power/wall adapter (not included).

To recharge your Solar Steplight Battery:

  1. Slide the tabs out of the grooves on the back of the Solar Steplight to remove the rear plate.
  2. Press in the tab on the bottom of the battery plate to lift and remove.
    • If this is your first time charging your Solar Steplight, remove the battery pull tab to activate.
  3. Connect the micro USB cable to the USB power/wall adapter.
  4. Insert the micro USB cable into the Solar Steplight.
  5. Plug the USB power/wall adapter into the outlet to begin charging.
    • The light will slowly turn on and off while charging.
    • When the Solar Steplight is fully charged, the light will glow continuously and will be ready for use.
  6. After the Solar Steplight it fully charged, unplug it from the micro USB cable.
  7. Push the battery cover back onto the Solar Steplight, making sure the tab snaps into place.
  8. Slide the rear plate back on and mount the Solar Steplight back in place.

Solar Floodlight Battery

What you’ll need before recharging the Solar Floodlight Battery:

  • Solar Floodlight.
  • One (1) Ring quick release rechargeable battery (included in Solar Floodlight packaging).
  • Micro USB cable (included in Solar Floodlight packaging).
  • USB power/wall adapter (not included).

To recharge your Solar Floodlight Battery:

  1. Twist the Floodlight counter-clockwise to unlock the back cover.
  2. Push the metal tab and remove the included battery.
    • If this is your first time charging your Solar Floodlight, remove the battery strips to activate.
  3. Connect the micro USB cable to the USB power/wall adapter.
  4. Insert the micro USB cable into the battery.
  5. Plug the USB power/wall adapter into the outlet to begin charging.
    • The light on the battery will be green and red while charging.
    • When the battery is fully charged, only the green light will be visible and will be ready for use.
  6. Insert the battery back into the Solar Floodlight and push until it snaps in place.
  7. Twist the cover back onto the Floodlight.
  8. Mount the Floodlight back in place.

The battery charge percentage will not change in the Ring app until the fully-charged battery is reinserted into the device. Make sure you always have backup power by getting an extra rechargeable quick release battery pack.

Wall Light Solar Battery

What you’ll need before recharging the Wall Light Solar Battery:

  • Wall Light Solar.
  • Two (2) 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable batteries (included in Wall Light Solar packaging).
  • Micro USB cable (included in Wall Light Solar packaging).
  • USB power/wall adapter (not included).

To recharge your Wall Light Solar Battery:

  1. Press in the tabs on the top of the battery plate to lift and remove.
    • If this is your first time charging your Wall Light Solar, remove the battery pull tabs to activate.
  2. Connect the micro USB cable to the USB power/wall adapter.
  3. Insert the micro USB cable into the Wall Light Solar.
  4. Plug the USB power/wall adapter into the outlet to begin charging.
    • The light will slowly turn on and off while charging.
    • When the Wall Light Solar is fully charged, the light will glow continuously and will be ready for use.
    • After the Wall Light Solar it fully charged, unplug it from the micro USB cable.
  5. Push the battery cover back onto the Wall Light Solar, making sure the tab snaps into place.
