Understanding cellular connectivity and Extra Data for Ring Mobile Security Tower

Ring Mobile Security Tower connects through a built-in AT&T embedded SIM (eSIM) using Long-Term Evolution (LTE) cellular technology. No wifi, router, or internet service provider is required. During setup, skip wifi to use cellular as the primary connection method.

How LTE connectivity works

You need the following to use cellular connectivity on Ring Mobile Security Tower:

• A Ring Protect Pro or Virtual Security Guard (VSG) plan

  (LTE Streaming is enabled automatically with your subscription).
• A reliable power source, such as battery packs, solar panels, or plug-in power.

Included data

Your Security Tower includes 3 GB of cellular data each month, activated automatically with your subscription. You receive email and app notifications when approaching the data limit. When you reach the data limit, the following features are disabled:

• Live View
• Snapshots
• Motion detection

Device Health monitoring continues after the data limit is reached. Your data usage resets on a new billing cycle.

How Extra Data works

After you use the included 3 GB, you can opt in to Extra Data at $1 per additional 1 GB. Extra Data requires an active Ring Protect Pro or VSG plan. Charges apply only for data used, and you can opt in or out at any time.
