Ring Video Doorbell 2 on a modern home's front door.

Installing a Wedge Kit or Corner Kit for Ring Video Doorbells

Learn why and how to use a Wedge Kit or Corner Kit to change the angle of your Video Doorbell. Note: We recommend waiting until you have your Wedge Kit or Corner Kit available before you begin to drill holes. The screw hole placement for a Wedge Kit or Corner Kit is different compared to the screw hole placement for installing a doorbell without them. Watch our installation videos for more information.

Wedge Kits

A Wedge Kit is an optional accessory used to angle your Ring Video Doorbell down five degrees. If you installed your Ring Video Doorbell higher than the optimal installation height of 4 feet (1.2 meters) from the ground, a Wedge Kit can improve your view. It can also be used to reduce motion events from passing traffic and ensure you capture approaching visitors if your Ring Video Doorbell is at the top of a staircase, installed on angled siding, or facing a busy street.

How to install a Wedge Kit

If installing on a wood surface, screw the bracket directly into the wall. If installing on a masonry surface, mark two screw holes using the bracket as a guide. Drill holes using a 1/4" (6mm) drill bit, insert the wall anchors, then drive the medium bracket screws through the bracket into the wall anchors. Then, mount your Video Doorbell to the Wedge Kit.

Corner Kits

A Corner Kit is an optional accessory used to angle your Video Doorbell at 15 degrees left or right away from the wall. If you are installing your Video Doorbell on a corner or adjacent wall, a Corner Kit can improve motion detection and view. You can also use it to angle your doorbell away from a wall or window to keep your view free of light reflections when it’s dark. Find the right Corner Kit for your Video Doorbell.

Using more than one Wedge Kit or Corner Kit

If needed, you can combine multiple Kits to change the angle of your Video Doorbell. You can use up to three Wedge Kits or one Wedge Kit and one Corner Kit, for example. Make sure to use Live View in the Ring app to check the view before finishing installation. If you are using a Wedge Kit and a Corner Kit together, we recommend stacking the Wedge Kit on top of the Corner Kit and mounting them to the wall before attaching your Ring Video Doorbell.

Solar Chargers, Wedge Kits and Corner Kits

Ring Solar Chargers can be used with a Wedge Kit or a Corner Kit mount. However, only one mount is recommended with a Solar Charger, as stacking more than one mount changes the angle of the doorbell and can cast a shadow on the Solar Charger, making it less effective. Solar Chargers should have direct sunlight for optimal performance.
