    QR code
on the Pet Tag using your mobile device's camera.
    • If you haven't set up a
      Pet Profile

  2. Complete your
    Pet Profile.
  3. Place the Pet Tag on your pet’s collar.

How does Pet Tag work?

Pet Tag is a metal ID tag for pets that attaches to a pet’s collar with an included keyring. There's a scannable QR code on the back that links to a digital Pet Profile that must be set up in the Ring app. Each of your pets needs their own individual pet tag and Pet Profile.

The Pet Profile displays important information about the pet such as name, health issues, medication, and dietary needs. Once linked, any time the QR code is scanned it will open the Lost Pet Flyer for the pet, which includes critical information from the Pet Profile.

The flyer has a Contact Owner button, which allows the person who scanned the tag to make a call or send a text message anonymously to the pet’s owner. For safety and privacy reasons, both the scanner and the pet owner’s names and phone numbers remain anonymous unless either party chooses to share their information to help reunite the pet with the owner.

How to contact the owner of a found pet with a Ring Pet Tag

You don’t need the Ring app to contact the owner of a lost pet.

If you’ve found a lost pet:

  1. Scan the
    QR code
on the back of the Pet Tag using your mobile device's camera.
  2. If the pet owner has created a
    Lost Pet Flyer
    , tap
    Contact Owner
    to get in touch.
    • If the pet owner has not created a
      Lost Pet Flyer
      , you’ll see the
      Pet Profile.
      From here you can choose
      Contact Owner
      to get in touch (or
for the owner if you're logged in to your Ring account).
