Reset or power cycle your Ring device
Learn how to factory reset and power cycle your Ring devices.
Factory reset
If you need to factory reset your doorbell, camera, or Chime, follow the steps below. After performing a factory reset, you might need to set up your device again in the Ring app.
- Doorbells:Hold the setup button for 20 seconds, then release.
- Cameras:Hold the setup button for 20 seconds, then release.
- Chimes:Hold the setup button for 20 seconds, then release.
Locate your device’s setup button
Device setup button location will vary based on the type and model of your device. This section will provide general locations for each device type.
Doorbells
- For models with an internal battery: Setup button is on the back of the device.
- For models with a removable battery: Setup button is under the faceplate, on the front of the device.
- For wired models: Setup button is under the faceplate, on the right side of the device.
Cameras
- For Outdoor Cams (previously Stick Up Cam): Setup button is inside the battery compartment.
- For all other cameras: Setup button is on top of the device.
Chimes
- For most Chime models: Setup button is on the right side of the device.
- For older Chime models: Set up device using a pinhole on the right side.
Power cycle
If you need to power cycle your doorbell, camera, or Chime, follow the steps below.
- Battery-operated devices:Remove the battery pack(s) for 10 seconds, then reinsert.
- Plug-in devices:Unplug the device for 10 seconds, then plug back in.
- Wired devices:Turn off the power source (light switch or circuit breaker), then turn back on.
