Viewing your Ring cameras with Alexa
You can use Ring-compatible Amazon devices to make announcements, use Two-Way Talk, and watch Live View from your Ring doorbells and cameras.1
Connecting your Ring and Alexa devices
To view live video on your Alexa device, first connect your Ring and Alexa devices.
Using Alexa voice commands to access Live View
Use voice commands to watch Live View from your Ring doorbell or camera on devices with screens.
To see Live View from your Ring camera, say:
- “Alexa, show [Front Door].”
- “Alexa, show my [Front Door].”
To stop the live video feed, you can say:
- “Alexa, hide [Front Door].”
- “Alexa, stop.”
- “Alexa, go Home.”
Important note: "[Front Door]" is an example and might differ from the location labels that you assigned to your device during setup. Other examples are backyard, side door, garage, etc.
Viewing Ring devices on your Smart Home Dashboard
The Smart Home Dashboard on Echo Show, Echo Hub, and Fire TV (except 1st Generation Fire Stick), shows all your connected devices, including:
- Ring doorbells and cameras
- Smart lights
- Plugs
- Switches
- Devices you have added to your favorites from the Alexa app
Using Alexa voice commands, you can access the Smart Home Dashboard to view your connected Ring devices.
Follow these steps to see Live View from your Ring device
- Say,"Alexa, show my Smart Home Dashboard."
- Find your Ring devices in the camera row at the top.
- Select a device to see Live View.
Important note: This feature is only available in the US and Canada.
Using Picture-in-Picture Live View with Alexa
Picture-in-Picture shows your Ring camera feed in the top right corner of your TV screen while you continue watching your program. This feature works with select Echo Show and Fire TV models.
Control your camera view
Start by saying, "Alexa, show my [Front Door]." Then, use the following voice commands to access Picture-in-Picture:
- "Alexa, switch to full screen."
- "Alexa, switch to Picture-in-Picture."
- "Alexa, minimize to Picture-in-Picture."
- "Alexa, end Picture-in-Picture."
Answer your door
To answer your door and speak to visitors, say:
- "Alexa, talk to [Front Door]."
Important note: "[Front Door]" is an example and might differ from the name that you assigned to your device(s) during setup. Other examples are backyard, side door, garage, etc.
Controlling which Alexa devices can access Live View on your Ring devices
After you've connected your Ring device(s) to Alexa, you can change which Alexa devices have access to Live View in the Ring app.
- Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
- Tap themenu (☰).
- TapControl Center.
- ChooseAmazon Account Linking.
- Check if your Amazon account is already linked underLink Amazon Account.
- If you see “No account linked,” tapLinkand follow the steps in the app to link your account. Make sure the box is checked forRing Skill..
- If your Ring and Amazon accounts are linked, tapLinked Alexa Devicesto see a list of all your connected Alexa devices on the linked Amazon account.
- Use the toggles to turn Live View access on or off for each device. You can adjust these settings from this screen at any time.
Important note: Enhanced controls will only be available for Alexa devices if you have linked your Ring and Amazon accounts.
