Creating a Pet Profile, Lost Pet Post, or Lost Pet Flyer

You can store photos and information about your pets using Pet Profiles and Lost Pet posts in the Neighbors app to help keep your furry friends safe in your community. See below to learn how to create a Pet Profile, Lost Pet Post, or Lost Pet Flyer.

How to create a Pet Profile

In the Ring app:

  1. Tap the
    menu (☰)
    in the top left.
  2. Tap
    Neighbors.
  3. Tap the gear icon in the top right.
  4. Tap
    My Pets
    .
  5. Tap
    Create New Profile.
  6. Enter your pet’s name, then
    Continue
    .
  7. Select the type of pet.
    • If you select ‘Other’, then you will need to write in what type of pet is it.
  8. Tap
    Add Media
    to add photos to your pet's profile.
    • You will need to add at least one photo to use for your profile, with a maximum of five images.
  9. Select
    Continue
    .
  10. On the Additional Info screen, you can fill in any more information that you want about your pet like gender, weight, breed, and any medical information.
  11. Tap
    Continue
    .
  12. Tap
    Finish
    .

How to create a Lost Pet Post

Lost Pet Posts use photos and information included in your Pet Profile to auto-generate a post you can send out to your community letting them know to be on the lookout for your pet. You can also provide vital information like the date and time your pet went missing and where they were last seen. You can create a Lost Pet post directly from your pet's Pet Profile or as a New Post.

To create a Lost Pet Post from the Pet Profile:

  1. Tap the
    menu (☰).
  2. Tap
    My Pets
    .
  3. Tap on the
    Pet Profile
    for the pet that has gone missing.
  4. Tap
    Lost Pet Post
    under the Advanced Options section.
  5. Select the date your pet went missing.
  6. Tap 
    Preview Post
     if all the information looks correct.
  7. Tap 
    Share Post
    .

To create a Lost Pet post as a new post:

  1. Tap the blue '+' button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen to create a
    New Post
    .
  2. Tap 
    Animals
    .
  3. Tap 
    Continue
    .
  4. Tap 
    Use Pet Profile
     to create a post from your Pet Profile, or tap
    No Thanks
    to create your own Lost Pet Post.
  5. If you tap 
    No Thanks
    , fill out the following information:
    • Title
    • Incident Description
    • Contact Me (this can be turned on or off)
    • Disable Comments
      • Disabling comments will make it so Neighbors in your community won't be able to leave comments on your Lost Pet post.
  6. Tap 
    Preview Post
    to see what your Lost Pet Post will look like.
  7. Tap 
    Share Post
    when you're ready to post it.

How to set up a Lost Pet Flyer

If your pet is lost, and you’ve already set up a Pet Tag and created a Pet Profile, you can create a Lost Pet Flyer and add a personalized message about your pet.

  1. Go to the top left in the Ring app and select the location (address) of the lost pet.
  2. If you have only have one location there will only be one address.
  3. If you have multiple locations or you see All Cameras, change to the address of the lost pet.

Once you’ve selected the location of the lost pet, to set up a lost pet flyer in the Ring app:

  1. Tap
    Settings.
  2. Tap
    Shared Access
    or
    Users and Pets.
  3. Select your
    Pet Profile.
  4. In the
    Lost Pet Flyer
    menu option tap
    Edit Flyer
    to add relevant information about your pet.

What happens after you’ve set up a Lost Pet Flyer

Once someone who finds a pet has scanned the QR code on the Pet Tag they’ll be able to see your Pet Profile and/or Lost Pet Flyer and contact you. You’ll get a notification in the Ring app. The person who finds your pet does not need to have the Ring app. In order to protect your privacy, they won't have access to your name or phone number.

How to update a Lost Pet Flyer

Once you’ve found your pet, you can go to the Lost Pet Flyer and tap Update Post. From there, you can add an update which will generate a Resolved Badge to let the community know your pet has been located.

Pet Profile FAQs

What kind of information can I store in a Pet Profile?

A Pet Profile can feature up to five photos and information including a pet’s name, species, breed, weight and color. You can also use the Useful Info section to include additional helpful information about their pet like identifying markers, health issues, medication, or microchip numbers.

What can users do with a “Pet Profile”?

Once a Pet Profile is created, users can easily create a Lost Pet Post using the photos and information included in their Pet Profile.

How many Pet Profiles can I create?

There is no limit to the number of pet profiles that you can create. If you have more than one created you will see them all listed in the My Pets screen.

Will all Neighbors users be able to see all Pet Profiles?

No. Pet Profiles are only viewable to the person who creates them.

Will Pet Profiles be available outside of the US?

The Neighbors App is currently available in the United States.

Lost Pet Post FAQs

What do I do when I’m reunited with my pet and I’ve used Pet Profiles to create a Lost Pet Post?

When a pet is reunited with its loved ones, you can go to the Lost Pet Post and tap Update Post. From there, you can provide an update to your neighbors. This will update the post with a resolved badge and let the community know that they don’t need to look for the pet anymore.

What do I do when I’m reunited with my pet and I’ve used Pet Profiles to create a Lost Pet Post?

When you're reunited with your pet, you can go to your Lost Pet Post and tap Update Post. From there, you can provide an update to your neighbors. This will update the post with a Resolved Badge to let the community know that they don’t need to look for the pet anymore.

How can people in my neighborhood contact me with updates about my Lost Pet?

You can enable the Contact Me feature when creating a Lost Pet Post. If anyone finds your pet or has an update, they can securely call or text you through the Neighbors app. To disable this feature, simply tap the three dots on your post to turn off Contact Me.
