Advanced Motion Detection in Ring Devices

All Ring Video Doorbells and Security Cameras use Advanced Motion Detection, with benefits such as:

• Customizable Camera Motion Zones
• More accurate motion detection
• Reduction of unwanted motion alerts so you can capture only what matters most

How to turn on Advanced Motion Detection

For some battery-powered Ring devices, you need to turn Advanced Motion Detection on to use customizable Camera Motion Zones and more accurate motion detection. 

If you don't see Advanced Motion Detection under Advanced Settings in the Ring app, this feature is always on for your device.

1. Open the Ring app.
2. Tap the

   menu

   (☰).
3. Tap

   Devices.
4. Tap your device.
5. Tap

   Motion Settings.
6. Tap

   Advanced Settings.
7. Tap

   Advanced Motion Detection.
8. Toggle the switch on.

How to set up your customizable Camera Motion Zones

Camera Motion Zones let you focus on specific areas that you want your Ring device to cover, and ignore high traffic areas you don't want to monitor. By customizing these zones, you can reduce the number of false motion alerts, such as cars driving by or trees moving in the distance.
