Car Tracker and Alarm: Incompatible vehicles and accessories

Ring Car Tracker and Alarm connects to your vehicle's On-Board Diagnostics II (OBD-II) port to provide security alerts. Some vehicles and third-party accessories are not compatible with Car Tracker and Alarm because they lack a standard OBD-II port or interfere with the device's connection.

  • Requirement:
    Your vehicle must have a standard OBD-II port.
  • OBD-II port location:
    Under the dashboard in the driver or passenger footwell. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual for the exact location and instructions on removing any panel coverings.
  • Incompatible vehicles:
    BMW i3, all Lucid models, Polestar 2, Polestar 4, all Tesla models, Volvo EX30 EV, and all vehicles manufactured before 1996.
  • Incompatible accessories:
    All third-party OBD-II accessories, including Bluetooth adapters, pass-through cables, and splitters.
