Troubleshooting Ring Power Packs

If your Ring Power Pack isn’t quite working right, or if you see one of these messages, follow the steps listed below to resolve the issue.

Your Power Pack is updating.

What does this mean? If you see this message, it means that your Ring Power Pack is downloading a software update. We occasionally update the software on Power Packs to improve battery life or other enhancements.

What should you do? It is very important that you do not unplug the Power Pack while it is installing an update. Simply wait a few minutes for the update to complete, and the message will disappear.

Ring Power Pack is no longer working.

What does this mean? Unfortunately, it means that there is an issue with your Power Pack that cannot be fixed or resolved. In order to get backup battery power, you’ll need to replace your Power Pack.

What should you do? If your Power Pack is under the 1 year warranty, you can all Ring Customer Support and request a replacement Power Pack.

Ring Power Pack is not plugged in correctly.

What does this mean? If your Ring Power Pack is not plugged in correctly, you may get an error message.

What should you do? Check that your Ring Power Pack is plugged in, using the included the USB-C cable to link Power Packs to each other, and to your Alarm Pro. Make sure that the blue end of the cable is plugged into the Power Out port, and the orange end is plugged into the Power In port.

Ring Power Pack is not charging.

What does this mean? One or more of your Ring Power Packs is not charging properly. This could be due to a power outage, or the Alarm Pro power adapter may have been unplugged from the outlet. It’s also possible that a USB-C cable on the back of your Alarm Pro or Power Pack may have been knocked loose.

What should you do? Check all of the cables on the back of the Alarm Pro and Power Packs are plugged in correctly and working. Next, check that the outlet you’re using to power your Alarm Pro is plugged into a working power source.
