Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) mounted on an external surface of a modern home.

Chime Kit Mini information

Chime Kit Mini is a compact speaker that works with your Ring doorbell, playing a sound when someone is at your door.

It replaces your existing mechanical or digital chime and helps optimize power delivery to Ring 2K and 4K doorbells. Chime Kit Mini features a single ringtone option only.

If you do not install Chime Kit Mini, you won’t be able to hear your doorbell inside your home1 unless you’re using a Ring Chime, Ring Chime Pro or Alexa device.2

Important: If you do not install the Chime Kit Mini, you will still need to bypass your internal chime and connect your doorbell directly to your transformer. To do this, turn power off at the circuit breaker, remove the TRANS and FRONT wires, and connect them using one of included wire nuts.

If you’re upgrading from another Ring doorbell

Important! Turn off power at the circuit breaker before examining your wiring.

If you are upgrading an older Ring Doorbell to a 2K or 4K Ring doorbell and have installed a Pro Power Kit, you must remove the wires from the chime screws and connect them using wire nuts. Do not use the chime screws to connect the wires.

If you’re using a Plug-In Adapter

Chime Kit Mini cannot be used with a Ring Plug-In Adapter and will not connect to your in-home chime. If you’re using a Plug-In Adapter to power your doorbell, you must use a Ring Chime, Ring Chime Pro or Amazon Alexa device with your 2K or 4K doorbell to hear an audible chime within your home. If you’re using a Plug-In Adapter with your existing doorbell system, you will still need to bypass your internal chime and connect your doorbell directly to your transformer. To do this, turn power off at the circuit breaker, remove the TRANS and FRONT wires, and connect them using one of included wire nuts.

If you have installed Chime Kit Mini but can’t hear a chime inside your home

Important! Turn off power at the circuit breaker before examining your wiring.

  • Check to see that your power has been restored at the circuit breaker.
  • Check your doorbell wiring and Chime Kit Mini wiring to make sure it is secure.
  • Your doorbell might not be getting enough power - consult an electrician.

If you have second doorbell you want to keep using

Instead of disconnecting the TRANS wire from your chime, leave it connected and attach one of the wires from Chime Kit Mini to the TRANS screw. You should still connect the FRONT wire directly to Chime Kit Mini using one of the included wire nuts.
