How to Link Your Ring Devices for Enhanced Security

Learn how your Ring devices can work together and perform actions at the same time when an Event happens at your location.

What are Linked Devices?

Linked Devices (or device linking) lets you set up relationships between your Ring devices so they can work together to better protect you. For example, if one device detects motion, other devices can begin recording video or turn on their lights.

How to link your Ring devices

You can link Ring Alarm, Ring doorbells, cameras, and smart lighting in the Ring app to perform actions when a Ring, Motion, or Alarm event happens.

  1. Open the Ring app.
  2. Tap the
    menu (☰)
    and then
    Devices
    .
  3. Select the primary
    Device
    where the Event will happen.
    • For example, if you choose your doorbell, you'll be setting up what happens on other devices if someone presses your doorbell or when motion is detected.
  4. Tap the
    Linked Devices
    tile on your Device Dashboard.
  5. Choose the action your other Ring devices should take when someone interacts with your primary Device.
  6. Under each device at your location, tap the actions you want each device to perform, or leave devices to do nothing.
  7. Tap
    Save
and now your devices are linked.

If you have a Ring subscription plan, your Ring videos will show in your Event History as a Linked Event.
