Advanced audio settings for Ring Intercom devices

Your Ring Intercom device comes with default audio settings. Your building's wiring and lobby panel placement might cause echoes, background noise, electrical interference, or low volume. You can adjust these settings to fix audio issues.

Adjusting audio settings for Ring Intercom devices

To adjust audio settings for Ring Intercom:

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
  2. Tap the Intercom’s tile under Devices.
  3. Tap
    Device Settings
    .
  4. Tap
    Audio Settings
    .

Important note: If you want to revert your Audio Settings to the default settings, tap Reset to default. After you reset your settings to default, it is not possible to return to your previously customised settings.

Fixing audio issues

You can fix common issues and improve your audio quality by adjusting the settings.

Background noise

  • If you hear noise in the app, decrease the "How You Hear Visitors" level.
  • If visitors hear noise, decrease the "How Visitors Hear You" level.

Choppy or cut out audio

  • When the issue happens in the app:

    • If you hear low background noise, increase the "How You Hear Visitors" level.
  • When the issue happens on the visitor side:
    • If you hear loud background noise, decrease the "How Visitors Hear You" level.
    • If you hear low background noise, increase the "How Visitors Hear You" level.

Echo in audio

  1. Increase the "Echo Cancellation" level (under Advanced Audio Settings) by sliding the bar to the right.
  2. If this doesn't help, decrease the "How Visitors Hear You" level.
  3. If the echo continues, try switching to a different "Audio Preset" (under Advanced Audio Settings).

Unable to hear the other party

  • If the volume is too low in the app, increase the "How You Hear Visitors" level.
  • If the volume is too low for visitors, increase the "How Visitors Hear You" level.

Important note: Depending on your intercom model, some settings might not be possible to adjust.
