Creating and managing Access Codes for Alarm users

Learn how to create and manage access codes for Ring Alarm users. As an Alarm owner, you can control who has access to your Alarm and what features they can use. An access code is a unique, four-digit number that lets users arm and disarm your Alarm using the Keypad.

Creating, changing, or resetting an access code

You can create up to 256 access codes for one Ring Alarm, including Owner, Shared User and Guest User codes.

Create an access code for the Alarm Owner:

  1. Connect your Keypad to your Base Station by plugging it in and waiting for it to pair.
  2. When prompted, create and confirm a four-digit owner access code. You will need to enter the code twice before saving.

Manage access codes for Shared and Guest Users:

When you invite Shared Users or Guest Users, each person must have their own unique, four-digit access code. Users must enter their access code and then press Home, Away, or Disarm to change modes using the Keypad.

To change or reset an access code:

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.

  2. Tap the menu (☰).
