Getting your verification code

Learn how you may be able to get your verification code from a device you've used in the past 30 days, and other ways to sign in.

Quick Tip: Check text messages on other devices. You may be receiving your verification codes on an older phone or tablet, or your laptop may also be receiving texts.

Accessing Ring from a device that's already signed in

If you've used a device in the past 30 days to access Ring, you may still be able to log in on this other device. Follow these steps to help get your verification code.

Step 1: Open Ring on the device you last used. 

  • Ring app on a previous phone or tablet
  • Your account at Ring.com on a previous phone or tablet
  • Your account at Ring.com on a laptop or computer

Step 2: Go to your Ring Control Centre.

On a phone or tablet:

  1. Tap the
    menu
    (☰).
  2. Scroll down and tap
    Control Centre
    .
  3. Tap
    Account Verification
    .

On a laptop or computer:

  1. Click the
    Dashboard
    home icon.
  2. Click
    Account
    and select
    Control Centre
    .
  3. Click
    Account Verification

Step 3: Make sure your phone number is correct.

Your verification codes may be going to different phone number. Under Account Verification in Control Centre, the last two digits of your phone number will show.

To update the phone number you want to receive your verification codes, follow these steps:

  1. Tap
    Update mobile number
    under the Text Message section.
  2. Enter your new (or updated) phone number. 
  3. You’ll be asked to re-enter your password for security purposes.
  4. On your new device, attempt to sign in again to Ring.
  5. Look for a verification code being sent to the updated number.

I use an authenticator app to get my verification codes

Try something else: 

Generate a code in Control Centre. 

From the same Account Verification section in Control Centre, you can generate a verification code to use to sign in your new device.

  1. Scroll down to the
    Generate a Verification Code
    section.
  2. Under Authorise a New Device, select
    Generate
    .
  3. You may be asked again to re-enter your password.
  4. On your new device, attempt to sign in to Ring again with that code.
