Ring Alarm Motion Detector settings
The Ring Alarm Motion Detector has multiple motion detection sensitivity settings that can help protect your home or business while avoiding false alarms. These settings are also useful for avoiding false alarms, especially if you have pets.
The Motion Detector (1st Generation) has the following settings:
Low Sensitivity This setting allows for some slight movement in a space before it triggers the Alarm. Designed for locations where multiple pets or larger pets will be left inside when Ring Alarm is armed in Away mode. Medium Sensitivity This setting allows for minimal movement in a space before it triggers the Alarm. This is designed to accommodate one pet or several small pets when Ring Alarm is armed in Away mode. High Sensitivity It is the most sensitive setting, and it will trigger Ring Alarm immediately. This setting is not recommended if you have pets. |
The Motion Detector (2nd Generation) has the following settings:
Low Detection This setting allows for some slight movement in a space before it triggers the Alarm. Designed for locations where multiple pets or larger pets will be left inside when Ring Alarm is armed in Away mode. Medium Detection This setting allows for minimal movement in a space before it triggers the Alarm. This is designed to accommodate one pet or several small pets when Ring Alarm is armed in Away mode. High Detection It is the most sensitive setting, and it will trigger Ring Alarm immediately. This setting is not recommended if you have pets. |
Note: The Ring Alarm Motion Detector (2nd Generation) uses new patented motion detection technology that works differently, so 1st and 2nd Generation Motion Detectors can't be easily compared, even though the settings look similar.
Motion Detector (2nd Generation) is designed to measure both heat and movement over time, which should help reduce false alarms. You may experience differences in how motion is detected due to a number of environmental factors when installed in your home or business. If you set the second generation Motion Detector to the High Detection setting, you should have a similar experience to the first generation Motion Detector set to the Medium Sensitivity setting.
We recommend that you test all devices after installation to ensure that you've selected the best location and the correct settings to accommodate any pets.
