How to connect your Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus directly to a low-voltage transformer without a pre-existing doorbell

If you don't have an existing doorbell but would like to avoid the need to charge the battery of your Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus, you can directly connect your Video Doorbell to a low voltage transformer.

For your safety, only use a transformer within the range specified below or compatible Ring accessories to power your device.

For connecting to transformer:

- Hardwired transformer (8 to 24 VAC, 50/60Hz, 5VA to 40VA)

Ring accessories are sold separately and may include:

- Plug-In Adapter (24Vdc, 500mA)

- Solar Charger (5.2Vdc, 100mA or 109mA)

- Solar Panel (5Vdc, 380mA/480mA/800mA)

Using incompatible power sources can damage your device and cause electric shock

A resistor is not required.

Do not install a diode, as the in-home chime functionality is now controlled via the Ring app.

WARNING: Electrical shock hazard. Disconnect power to the installation area at your circuit breaker or fuse box before beginning installation. Always use caution when handling electrical wiring.

Installation by a qualified electrician may be required in your area. Refer to your local laws and building codes before performing electrical work; permits plus professional installation may be required by law.
