Fixing Ring Skill issues in the Alexa app

Troubleshoot issues with the Ring Skill in the Alexa app. You might encounter trouble with commands, viewing Live View, and signing in.

Updating the Ring and Alexa app

Make sure your mobile device’s operating system is up-to-date and that you are using the latest versions of the Ring and Alexa apps.

• Update the Ring app
• Update the Alexa app for an Apple (iOS) device
• Update the Alexa app for an Android device

Confirming the connection

Make sure your Ring and Alexa devices are online and working separately from each other. Learn more about fixing offline devices.

• Test Live View in the Ring app or on ring.com. If you encounter the same issues outside of Alexa, the cause of the issues could be unrelated to Alexa.

• Make sure your Alexa device is online by testing other Alexa functions.

• Reboot your router and/or modem, as well as the Alexa device.

Checking account details

• Make sure you sign in to the Ring account you used to set up your Ring devices when connecting the Ring Skill in the Alexa app.
• Make sure you sign in to the Amazon account linked to your Alexa device before turning on the Ring Skill.

Turning the Ring Skill off and on in the Alexa app

These steps will not remove your Ring devices from the Ring app or change device settings.

Unlink the Ring Skill in the Alexa app:

1. Open the Alexa app on your mobile device.
2. Tap the

   More

   (☰) icon at the bottom of the screen to the left of the Message Alexa box.
3. Select

   Skills & Games

   from the menu.
4. Scroll to the bottom, and tap

   Your Skills

   .
5. Find the

   Ring Skill

   and tap it.
6. Tap

   Disable Skill

   .
7. Tap

   Disable

   , and the Ring Skill will be removed.
8. Tap on

   Devices

   at the bottom corner.
9. Forget all your Ring devices by tapping the

   Trash Can

   icon.

Relink the Ring Skill in the Alexa app:

1. Open the Alexa app on your mobile device.
2. Tap the

   More

   (☰) icon at the bottom of the screen to the left of the Message Alexa box.
3. Tap

   Skills & Games

   from the menu.
4. On the next screen, search for Ring in the search box.
5. After you've found the

   Ring Skill

   , tap

   Enable

   .
6. Alexa will ask you to log in to your Ring account.
   • If you don't know your Ring password,

     learn how to reset your password

7. After you sign in, the Ring Skill will be linked to Alexa again, and you’ll be asked to discover devices.
8. Tap

   Discover Devices

   . All your Ring devices should appear and be connected to Alexa automatically.
   • If you don't want Alexa to integrate with a particular Ring device, select the device and tap

     Forget

     on the right side.
