Troubleshooting Ring Outdoor Siren

Learn how to fix your Outdoor Siren if you are experiencing these issues:

  • Poor connection
  • Unresponsive Outdoor Siren
  • Ring app shows Outdoor Siren is tampered

Fixing your Outdoor Siren connection

If the Ring app reports a poor Z-Wave signal, or your device is falling offline, is unresponsive, or does not power on, try the following:

  • Unmount the Outdoor Siren and move it to within 1.5 metres from the Base Station. If the connection improves, consider moving the Base Station to a more central location or adding a
    .
  • Power off the device by disconnecting any wires and removing the batteries; power it back on after a few seconds.
  • Replace the batteries or recharge the Ring Quick Release Battery Pack.
  • If hardwired, make sure you are using the Ring Plug-In Adapter.

If the Outdoor Siren is still experiencing issues, try reconnecting it in the Ring app:

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.

  2. Tap the Alarm tile under Devices.

  3. Tap Connected Devices.

  4. Tap the Outdoor Siren you want to reconnect.
  5. Tap the
    Device Settings
    tile.
  6. Tap
    Advanced Options
    .
  7. Tap
    Retry Connection
    : Follow the prompts in the Ring app to reconnect the siren to the Alarm Base Station.

If you are still having issues, factory reset your Outdoor Siren.


Fixing your unresponsive Outdoor Siren

If your Outdoor Siren is unresponsive or does not power on, try the following:

  • Make sure you are using a compatible power supply.
  • Power off Outdoor Siren by disconnecting any wires and removing the batteries. Power it back on after a few seconds.
  • Replace the batteries, or recharge the Ring Quick Release Battery Pack.
  • If hardwired, make sure you are using the Ring Plug-In Adapter and a known working outlet.

When the device powers on, a green light will flash between the Test and Reset buttons next to the battery compartment.

If you are still having issues, factory reset your Outdoor Siren.


Fixing tampered Outdoor Siren

If the Ring app shows your Outdoor Siren is tampered, it means it is not secured tightly or is not mounted correctly. Check the following:

  • Tighten the tamper arm screw on the Outdoor Siren mounting bracket so that it makes contact with the mounting surface.

  • Make sure the mounting screws are fully tightened and the Outdoor Siren is secured on the mounting bracket.

If your Outdoor Siren still shows tampered, factory reset the device.


Factory resetting your Outdoor Siren

If your Outdoor Siren is not performing as expected and other troubleshooting steps have not resolved the issue, factory reset your device. Then reconnect it in the Ring app.

To factory reset your Outdoor Siren:

  1. Remove the Outdoor Siren from the mounting bracket.
  2. Use a pin, paperclip, or SIM card ejector to press and hold the pinhole reset button.
  3. Release the button after 10 seconds, or when the small red LED light stops flashing.
